Tips for riding bike in Czech

If this is your first time in Czech republic on bikes we have some usefull info about riding in Czech. Here we go.

Basic laws

Most laws are the same or similar to elsewhere in Europe. So just a few basics to avoid troubles. 

  • Cyclists are not allowed to ride side by side (mostly respected by police, not by angry drivers)
  • Children under 18 are required to wear a helmet
  • Cyclists are not allowed to ride after consuming alcohol (zero tolerance)

Driver - cyclist relationship

For some reason drivers - cyclists relationship is an issue in Czech. Some of drivers hates cyclist because they can slow the trafic or whatsoever. But most of drivers are very respectful. They will overtake you very safely and respectful. But be prepared that you can experience some dangerous overtaking or shouting from some idi*ts. So be careful

Riding in the woods 

One of the best thing about riding bikes in Czech is that you can ride everywhere where it is not forbidden. So you can ride in the woods, you can ride on tourist tracks. But please be considerate of pedestrians. They has the same right to be there as you do. You are not allowed to ride on sidewalk in any case.
